Longmont High School Renovation Addition
Longmont High School Renovation / Addition
The main project focus was a renovation and addition to transform the once-institutional cafeteria into a student commons to reflect the distinctive character of Longmont’s oldest school. This included revamping the existing food service area into multiple service venues with inviting areas to suit various seating preferences. Circulation design also helped to guide student traffic toward food options while partial-height walls defined the various seating areas. The design was successful in significantly reducing the number of students going off-campus during lunch hour, which resulted in increased revenue for the school. The new spaces have become a student hub for studying and gathering, and double as a study area during non-lunch hours. The project was a CEFPI Design Award Winner for Renovation.
